JENNIFER ANISTON'S FAVORITE AROMAS AND SCENTS

JENNIFER ANISTON AND THE SCENTS SHE LOVES MOST:  ARTICLE FROM 'PEOPLE' JULY 20, 2015 ISSUE

"I am very anti-cologne on men.  I love the way they smell naturally.  Their own eau de sweat"
Jennifer Aniston

In the 'PEOPLE' July 20, 2015 issue was all about and in honor of Jennifer Aniston's new fragrance, which is Near Dusk.  Near Dusk, according to Jennifer Aniston is a beach-inspired fragrance.  It contains notes of nectarine, jasmine and coconut water.

"I've been wanting to do more of a night time fragrance, something a little sexier."
Jennifer Aniston

These are the favorite scents or aromas that Jennifer Aniston loves most:

How did she get into making fragrances?

When her girlfriends began to get married, she brought bottles of oils to bachelorette parties, then every one would pass around the beautiful glass antique perfume jar, and they will all put in drops of oil and set an intention for the bride.

~ What is the aroma she always recognize?

Night-blooming jasmine.  Jennifer grew-up in New York, so she was not around flowers that much.  But when she went to her friends' houses in the country, it was one of those smells she loved.  It gives her a feeling of butterflies.

~ What was the first perfume she ever owned?

Miss Dior was the first perfume Jennifer ever owned.  But according to her, it doesn't smell the same anymore, because it was literally for kids.  Which was the only reason Jennifer's mother would let her wear it, even though she would always sneak her perfumes.

~ Were her parents strict about makeup?

Jennifer parents were very strict that way.  They didn't want her to grow up too fast.  She wasn't allowed to wear makeup until Jennifer was 15.  Now, she see kids at 12 years old in full makeup.  She wants to shake them and tell them that, "You really don't understand how fast it's about to grow up."

~ Who has the best smelling home she visited?

Ellen DeGeneres' home, according to Jennifer smells delicious and really earthy; although, she cannot put her finger on it.  Other places that stand out to her is the smell of church (any church).  She is not religious in any way, but she do loves all of those wonderful incenses.

~ What does Justin Theroux smell like?

Jennifer Aniston likes Justin in natural oils.  He does a sandalwood kind of smell, which is one of the things she said drew her to him.  He has those come-hither sandalwood pheromones happening.

PERFUME, SCENT, AND FRAGRANCE

PERFUME, SCENT, AND FRAGRANCE:  FROM 'BEAUTY INSIGHT' ARTICLE OF GLAMOUR - MAY 2015 ISSUE

"Choosing a scent should be impulsive, based on emotions and taste."
Honorine Blanc

Here are a few experts' tips for testing, using, and cherishing your personal dream perfume, scent, and fragrance in these perfume ground rules.

Rule1:  Hit the reset button when testing.
"If you inhale perfumes for too long while testing at the store, you'll exhaust your scent receptors.  The traditional trick of sniffing coffee beans jolts them back into action, but it's a little overkill.  Do as the perfumers do and sniff a neutral area, like the crook of your elbow (where, presumably, you haven't been spraying anything); it will give your nose a break to recover."
Honorine Blanc
A Lebanon-born, Paris-trained perfume expert, who created some fragrances for Estee Lauder, Michael Kors, and YSL to her name.

Rule 2:  Spraying the air and walking through the cloud?  Not worth it.
"It's a waste of good perfume.  To prevent the scent from overwhelming, choose one pulse point instead - the neck, behind the ears, or wrists, where your skin will warm the scent and gently diffuse it around you.  Allowing it to evaporate naturally on the skin keeps the scent pure."
Francis Kurkdjian
A award-winning fragrance expert behind perfumes like Narciso Rodriguez for Her and Burberry My Burberry

"There's a long history of women stealing their boyfriend's cologne!"
Cecile Hua

Rule 3:  Take those bottles out of the bathroom so they'll last longer.
"Treat a perfume like a fine wine; the juice can degrade quickly when exposed to light, heat, or air.  Keep it anywhere but the bathroom.  The temperature and humidity fluctuations as the quickest ways to ruin your scent.  Store on a vanity or shelf away from light, and with good care, perfumes can last for a year or more."

JILLIAN MICHAELS' SEVEN STEPS TO SUCCESS

JILLIAN MICHAELS' SEVEN STEPS TO SUCCESS:  COVER STORY FROM 'GOOD HOUSEKEEPING' ~ JANUARY 2015 EDITION

"People think 'Maximize your life' means 'Get your sh*t together.' but it means your are worthy and capable of having more."

JILLIAN MICHAELS
She is best known for her appearances as fitness guru on NBC's The Biggest Loser and Losing It With Jillian.  Now Jillian is 40 years old and sharing her seven key strategies that helped her to have a successful life.

Jillian's Seven Steps to Success

1.  Define and Detail Specific Goals
Jillian said that, "People can achieve anything if they feel the goal is worth it, but most people don't stop to think in detail about why they pursue a goal, or what achieving it might look like in their life, or how it makes them feel.  They haven't detailed it, connected with it or cultivated it.  That vagueness makes for lousy motivation."  Her advise is to drill down as far as possible into your "whys" to keep yourself motivated as you pursue your goal.

2.  Do Your Homework
Jillian recommended that, one should read and learn everything he/she wants, which includes the steps other people have taken to achieve it, so one can pick effective strategies and form a game plan.  She added, "Go to experts with proven, long-term results.  They've done it for themselves, helped other people do it, and have a track record."  She recommends that, one should study the methods of someone he/she admires, then figure out how to mimic them in a way that fits his/her life.

3.  Make A Goal Pyramid
She suggested that, one should draw a pyramid with his/her main, long-term goal at top such as, lose 50 pounds, start a business, or go back to school.  Then below, break it down into specific monthly, weekly or even daily goals, using the strategies he/she chose when doing his/her "homework."  By doing this, one is creating a step-by-step road map to make attaining whatever it is he/she want feel easier.

4.  Take Responsibility
She said that "We should accept that yes, bad stuff happens and there are times when we are victims ~ it's how you respond and move forward that matters."  Moreover, she added that "Part of taking responsibility is communicating what you need and want from those around you, whether it's a promotion or for your spouse to stop bringing home the ice cream you can't resist."  The bottom line she said is that we control our destiny.  We should step-up and do not be afraid to ask for what you want.

5.  Answer The "What-Ifs"
She said that by learning how to utilize fear and move through it rather than be paralyzed by it is critical.  Furthermore, one should address whatever he/she is afraid of in pursuit of his/her goal head-on by journaling answers to three questions, such as:
~  What if I try and it works?
~  What if I try and fail?
~  What if I do nothing?
She added that we learn from bad things, not good things, which is why we should face down our fears and try taking a leap of faith.

6.  Pick Up On Patterns and Pause.
According to Jillian, "We all engage in destructive patterns.  Establish what dysfunctional or negative patterns hold you back and pay attention when that patterns starts to come up again.  Then 'stop' for your reaction is going to be impulsive and emotional; the key is to pause and do the exact opposite."  She added, "Study the way you react to challenges.  The next time a problem arises, consciously stop yourself and respond differently."

7.  Use Mistakes; Reframe Failures
Jillian indicated that one should think of mistakes as teachable moments and try not to say, "I'm a failure', but instead ask, "What can I do better? What did I do wrong? Then reapproach."

SPAGHETTI JOKE

SPAGHETTI JOKE

For several years, a man in New York City had been having an affair with an Italian woman.  One night, she confided to him that she was pregnant.  Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go back to Italy to secretly have the child.  Also, if she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would provide child support until the child turned 18.

She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born.  To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card and write 'SPA GHETTI' on the back when the child was born.  He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.

One day, about 8 months later, he came home to his confused wife.  "Honey," she said, "You received a very strange post card today."  "Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later." he said.
The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white and fainted.

On the card was written:  SPAGHETTI, SPAGHETTI, SPAGHETTI.

SKINCARE ADVICE: STAY YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL

BEAUTY ADVICE:  FOOD TO STAY YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL INSIDE OUT

"Food affects skin at a cellular level, so what you eat can make a dramatic difference in your appearance!"
Jeannette Graf, M.D.
Author of 'Stop Aging, Start Living: The Revolutionary 2-Week pH Diet'

To keep your skin plump, firm and looking its youthful best, Dr. Graf advice is to load up on these following food:

 1.   CITRUS FRUIT
Dr. Graf advises that you should aim for at least one serving of citrus fruit every other day.  Citrus fruit is a potent source of Vitamin C, an antioxidant research-proven to rev the production of skin-firming collagen and protect against wrinkles because you get the biggest C boost from food, not supplements.

2.   Walnuts and Brazil Nuts
Research shows that omega 3s strengthen muscles, and strong muscles keep skin looking taut and firm.  Brazil nuts and walnuts are especially high in omega-3 fatty acids, which improve the skin's appearance.

3.   Dark Green Veggies
Dr. Graf says, "They contain alkaline minerals, like potassium and calcium, and skin looks and functions best when your cells, tissues and fluids are slightly alkaline."  Moreover, she also said that if you do not love spinach, broccoli or kale, just take a spirulina supplement.  According to Dr. Graf, spirulina is a super-potent algae, which increases alkalinity and helps flush toxins that encourage wrinkles.

4.   Low-Glycemic Fruit
Fruits that are low in glycemic and do not cause a spike in blood sugar even though they are sweet as they can be are strawberries, raspberries, apricots and apples.  These information is crucial because excess sugar causes skin cells to age prematurely.

BEAUTY ADVICE: SKINTERVENTION

SKINTERVENTION:  BEAUTY ADVICE FROM AMY WECHSLER FROM AN ARTICLE AT ELLE MAGAZINE, NOVEMBER 2012

Amy Wechsler, MD is Chanel's newest team member, who will bring a refreshingly scientific approach to mind-body skin cures.  She is a board-certified dermatologist and psychiatrist (two doctorates that is one of just two in the country).

SKINTERVENTION OF AMY WECHSLER, MD

"I can tell when someone hasn't  been getting enough sleep, or if she's been around secondhand smoke.  It could be the dullness of her skin, acne, or more lines and wrinkles.  A lot of women in their twenties, they're burning the candle at both ends.  They're partying really hard.  They come to me to undo the damage, asking for Botox and fillers when they don't need them.  They just need to get more sleep and stop smoking.  They'll see a difference in a week."

"If you've got a line that's familial-something your mom had, like between your eyebrows and it's already etching itself in, we can cure you of it, and you won't need Botox there after a few years.  We use just a teeny bit; we call it "baby Botox."

"Any activity that decreases cortisol and the other stress molecules can minimize the damage on the skin.  Yoga and massage work, but not for everyone.  For example, yoga hurts my joints.  And topical acne medications, over-the-counter ones with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid or prescription retinoids, can also help."

"Humming releases nitric acid, which speeds healing.  I think it also increases your endorphins.  And humming can help with pain, more than a stress ball.  During procedures, you'll  see patients gripping stress balls, their shoulders all hunched.  But when those same patients try singing or humming, they totally relax."

"I'm not high-maintenance, I promise!  But I have a body towel, a dedicated hair towel, and a separate face towel.  When I was a teenager and had bad acne, my dermatologist said, "Never get your hair oil on your face, ever!"

"I was a real skeptic because I tried, like, 50 of them, and most don't do what they say they do.  First at all, it should never irritate the skin around the eye, the most sensitive skin on the body.  Number two, it has to be extremely moisturizing.  Number three, it has to address fine lines.  They aren't that many out there that do all three.  I love Chanel Sublimage because it works.  And regular Vaseline is a good alternative for people who can't afford Sublimage or just want the very basic.

"Applying safflower oil topically can boost your skin's stores of linoleic acid, a natural moisturizer.  Only two oils are primary linoleic acid - olive and safflower - but the problem with olive oil is you smell like a salad."

"There's a huge psychological component to a purchase, be it a lipstick, a bag, whatever it is.  There's something about spending money on ourselves that is a huge self-esteem booster.  Patients say, "Do you think it's worth it?"  I ask if they like it, how it makes them feel.  And they love that cream; it has a special significance for them.  And I think that's real."

SKIN DIET

GREAT SKIN DIET:  ARTICLE FROM BEAUTY/ BEAUTY INSIGHT BY GLAMOUR.COM (NOVEMBER 2012)

This good-diet-great-skin theory is created by a Massachusetts dermatologist, Dr. Valori Treloar, M.D., who is also the coauthor of 'The Clear Skin Diet'.  This is a seven-week- diet-plan with a simple instructions, which are the following:

1.  Steer clear of the white food family, including white breads, cookies, cakes, and crackers.

2.  Eat more fiber-rich carbs like brown rice, whole-grain pasta, sweet potatoes, and lentils.

3.  Cut down on dairy.  Eat yogurt because the fermentation may reduce some of the growth
     hormones that could trigger acne.

4.  Avoid processed meats like hot dogs.  Hotdogs contain inflammatory omega-6 fats, so
when buying meat, opt for organic and free-range.

5.  Fill your plate with colorful antioxidant-rich vegetables like carrots, spinach, and broccoli
and when possible, eat these raw.

6.  Eat wild-caught oily fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines.

7.  Cook with olive oil instead of corn and vegetable oils.  Olive oil typically have more
     omega-6 fats.

8.  Cut down on alcohol, which is proven to exacerbate adult acne, eczema, and rosacea.
